The Cambridge School Elementary Room 301 - The Science Lab History: Elementary's Room 301 (Science Lab), had a 19 year old heat pump, central air system that had been going down hill for some time. Years ago, the air handler (in the attic), decided to retire, so it was replaced. Then, the unit coasted on, working fairly well, until the outdoor fan slowed and quit. It was replaced. Then, the system developed a very slow gas leak. This caused the unit to: 1. Sometimes frost/ice over when needed the most. Recently, an A/C serviceman detected the elusive leak in an un-repairable location in the air handler coil (attic). The air handler itself could only be replaced, not feasible to be repaired. Mr. Simpson personally surveyed the complete system and determined it would be better to also replace the outdoor condenser unit, since it was installed 19 years ago.
Another "touch" is the use of top quality products utilizing the latest in technology, i.e. "carrier", "Puron" the environmentally sound refrigerant, "high efficiency". Another plus for this system is the removal of all the old perforated air supply diffusers in the ceiling, which held back air flow. The new "high volume" diffusers greatly increase air flow, allowing the unit to reach temperature, shut off sooner and minimize "hot spots" in the room. The end result is energy and economic conservation.
P. S. Also included ia a new energy saving programmable thermostat! Again, this is a gift greatly appreciated for now and future times. IT is a gift that keeps on giving! Again, Kudos and applause for the simpsons!!! Maintenance Supervisor, The Cambridge School
